RDRĀ® QuickStart Software: Self-Booting
Important! Please review the following items before downloading:
- To download this file, you must have a working Windows system and a newly formatted, virus-free 1.44 MB diskette available. If you do not have access to a working Windows system, please contact us. We will be happy to mail a Remote Data Recovery software diskette to you.
- Do not download this file directly to a diskette. The RDR Client program runs from a self-booting diskette, but the files below are the setup programs for creating that boot disk. The setup program is to be run from your hard disk on the working Windows system.
- Do not download this file to the same disk partition that has had a data loss. Writing to a bad partition may result in a less successful recovery.
If you have any questions regarding these items, please contact us.

What to do next
- After the appropriate file has been downloaded, close any running applications.
- Insert a blank, formatted diskette into the A: or B: drive.
- Run the downloaded program. If any errors occur in the diskette creation process, re-start Windows in Safe mode and try running the program again.
- After the bootable Remote Data Recovery diskette is created, remove it from the healthy system and insert it into the machine that has suffered a data loss.
- Re-start the ailing machine. It should boot directly to the Remote Data Recovery diskette. Follow the instructions on the screen for running some quick tests and connecting to an Ontrack Remote Data Recovery Engineer.
