Data recovery processes may run more smoothly with the aid of a written set of instructions, it has been suggested.
Christine Harrell writes for Article Explosion of the need for such a document to address all aspects of the procedure.
"A solid restore plan makes it that much easier to get your business running smoothly again after disaster," she points out.
She adds that companies may be wise to conduct two or more separate data archiving processes.
This is in order to ensure that one archive is always left intact, should the backup process fail and render the active volume inaccessible.
Ms Harrell recommends testing
data recovery by retrieving a small selection of files from each backup in order to prove that it has been successful.
The news follows the revelation that St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust has revised its
data recovery provisions in order to accelerate the restore process should it suffer a network catastrophe.
