Weird and wonderful data recovery

Data loss is often unavoidable, no matter how prepared a firm may be for it, one sector organisation reports.

Indeed, according to Kroll Ontrack, its specialists have noted some unusual data recovery situations.

"This year's data disasters show that no incident is too outrageous or difficult for our engineers to tackle, given our specialist skills and equipment," states Phil Bridge, managing director of the UK arm of the company.

Coming in at first place is the man who put his laptop in the oven in order to hide it from would-be burglars, however his plan failed when his wife turned it on to do some cooking, although engineers managed to recover his data.

In second place is the story about engineers who managed to recover critical panther preservation data after one of the flash tracking chips on an animal's collar was damaged, halting a wildlife research institute project.

And third on the list is the successful retrieval of data after a flash drive was hoovered up, pulling the tracks from the circuit board and tearing the connector.

Meanwhile, nebusiness recently reported that companies which lose data are at risk from closing and may be wise to employ the help of a disaster recovery service.ADNFCR-1851-ID-18922019-ADNFCR
