Businesses have been advised to upgrade the storage networks both in terms of capacity and responsiveness in order to reap the benefits of increased productivity.
Tech News World has reported that data volumes have increased dramatically in the last 12 months and firms now need to invest in
data storage upgrades to properly handle these growing data streams.
Kyle Fitze, director of marketing for storage platforms at Hewlett Packard, told the news priovider: "Storage content has been growing at explosive rates, primarily driven by the fact that companies are creating more data daily as their means of communicating internally and externally [have] become richer."
A report by IDC recently showed that worldwide data volumes in 2007 totalled approximately 281 billion gigabytes; however, this figure is now believed to be at least ten per cent larger.
Meanwhile, IT security website Search Security recently advised businesses to invest in data deduplication as a way of minimising their data storage volumes and improving network efficiency.
