SMBs 'benefit from secure cloud storage'
Category: Data recovery
23 February, 2009
Small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are benefiting from innovations in cloud storage, it has been revealed.
The Belfast Telegraph has reported that many online backup systems are now fully automated and will only store files that have been created or amended - resulting in smaller backup volumes and improved data efficiency for SMBs as a result.
Furthermore, the newspaper stated that apart from the obvious advantages of protecting data against physical harm - from disaster such as fire or flood - cloud storage means that business information is available anywhere in the world, increasing
data availability immensely.
Meanwhile, figures released by IDC recently revealed that the data backup and storage industry remains buoyant going into 2009.
The organisation's annual European storage survey showed that many firms are in fact increasing IT spending as a way of improving their business continuity readiness in the event of a disaster.
