Server virtualisation 'biggest challenge for storage suppliers'

One of the biggest obstacles for
data storage companies at present is the problem of how to adequately store data from virtual networks, it has been claimed.
Server virtualisation is, in essence, a backup on its own as files are stored virtually across a network. However, the problem arises as firms look to store data for backup purposes outside of the system.
As each of the files can be accessed and amended at any time, backups quickly become out of date and in need of amendment themselves, according to Enterprise Storage Forum.
In order to solve this, companies now need to invest in single file recovery systems, a process which is both complicated and time consuming, the website stated.
Meanwhile, Tim Mather recently wrote in his blog for SC Magazine that businesses need to ensure they have adequate checks in place to safeguard data against loss or theft in the virtual environment.
