A law firm has improved its energy efficiency and made annual savings of £30,000 by consolidating its server space, it has been revealed.
Burgess Salmon has been able to improve its energy efficiency and
data recovery readiness by reducing its reliance on disparate servers throughout its IT infrastructure.
The company carried out the consolidation project as part of its move to new office space, with Commercial IT Services helping the business in its move to a virtualised network system.
Alastair Adams, director at Commercial IT Services, said: "This far-sighted attitude has enabled the firm to seize the window of opportunity that came with the move to a new building and has laid the foundations for future IT innovation."
Elsewhere, research carried out by Gartner recently revealed companies could improve the data recovery preparations by embracing virtualisation technology.
The report claimed that as a result, the system allows businesses to both consolidate files and increase
data archiving capacity at the same time.
