SaaS systems are "the missing link"

The economics of Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS) make its uptake "the missing link" for firms looking to implement next-generation data management and sales techniques.

Vaughan Merlyn wrote in a feature article for Social Computing Magazine that the basis of SaaS is to outsource data management requirements in order to reduce costs and free up IT staff for more critical tasks such as network maintenance.

He commented that the ability of SaaS to bring better data management capabilities to a firm means that the premise could soon catch on in a big way.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that businesses can install SaaS as a way of implementing cut-price backup procedures, eliminating the need to spend the earth on costly equipment and outsourcing.

The website noted that it can often be more expensive to outsource data management requirements, although by doing so, firms are reducing their own need to spend time handling backup and recovery information.
