Software as a Service (SaaS) could help firms reduce incidences of data loss, it has been argued.

Paul LaPorte wrote in his blog for Tech News World that as the SaaS industry has gained maturity, it has also improved its data management and security practices.

He stated that the industry is now in a position to offer businesses secure data storage and recovery programs, as technological advances have removed many of the issues which had previously hounded the system.

In related news, PricewaterhouseCoopers has predicted an increase in the amount of data loss incidents being reported in the coming years.

The Irish Independent has reported that a study carried out by the global consultancy revealed that in the last few months the number of breaches and losses of information has increased and it forecast that this trend to continue.

As a result, the organisation urged businesses to improve their data security.
