RAID 'can avoid disaster recovery'

Online backup solutions have increased in popularity as file compression capabilities have increased, as well as internet bandwidth speeds, a technology expert claims.

However, this type is limited in its capacity in uploading data onto the backup company's server, Carlton Nielsen , the co-owner of NYLEX.NET, a local computer network support company in Siberia, tells the Times-Standard.

Via this method, computer data files are protected, rather than operating systems or programmes, he adds.

Businesses may be interested to know that a redundant array of independent discs (RAID recovery) is a set of mirrored hard drives that keeps a duplicate copy of data on two same-sized hard drives.

If a hard drive fails, there is another one to work off because it has mirrored the data, which could avoid disaster recovery methods being deployed, he explains to the Standard.
