Portable devices 'pose data security threat'

The growing number of business employees choosing to work from home and offsite is posing a real threat to the
data security of many firms, it has been claimed.
IT website BubbleTech has reported that a number of solutions are currently being tested to help solve this issue and these include the installation of endpoint security software and the uptake of data encryption procedures.
Furthermore, granular access allows only certain files to be amended or viewed offsite and is one of the options being advised to increase data security for businesses further.
And in related news, Ulf Mattsson, chief technical officer at Protegrity, recently commented that the use of data encryption protocols can drastically improve the data security for hardware being taken out of the office environment.
He noted that by limiting access to data decryption keys, only a certain number of employees will be able to access encrypted information.
