Planning 'key to DR'

Category: Data recovery

17 December, 2008

Disaster recovery (DR) requires intricate and painstaking planning, it has been claimed.

Multichannel.com has said that the key to a fast recovery is making adequate provisions before the event takes place - this includes making sure that IT and telecommunications systems are the first to get back up and running.

According to the website: "Telecommunications providers help smooth that process and receive timely intelligence by being part of the formal disaster recovery team."

In addition, the site noted that business clients should be informed of difficulties in order to prepare them for possible delays caused by the problem.

Meanwhile, Jonny Defh recently wrote in an article for the American Chronicle that data recovery software can help to bring about rapid recovery from unforeseen situations.

He said that corrupted files can easily be replaced and noted that virus attacks that wipe out whole systems can be avoided if information is stored securely in separate servers.
