Organisation is key to managing data effectively, it has been alleged.
Andoret Venter, principle consultant for BIA, wrote in an article for IT Web that the organisation of individuals is paramount in the smooth handling of data management for a business.
Ms Venter commented: "The master data life cycle needs to be understood by thinking of data as an entity; it is created, updated, archived and then deleted resulting in one full life cycle."
She added that factors including data standards management, quality issues and the understanding of IT infrastructure all impact upon the smooth running of a firm and the setting up of a
disaster recovery protocol.
Meanwhile, according to What PC? Large organisations need to utilise offsite backup procedures along with
data recovery software in order to best protect their data.
The website claimed that this type of cover should form the basis of every good
disaster recovery plan.
