Law firms' DR 'can be strengthened with virtual technology'

Category: Data destruction

Legal companies can help cut IT infrastructure costs and strengthen disaster recovery (DR) capabilities by migrating to virtual technology, it has been said.

Steve Fletcher, chief information officer at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein, told Law.com that servers can be reduced by 50 per cent or more and hardware and power expenses can be cut down by adopting such technology.

Having robust DR might reassure companies that their data can be retrieved and protected in the event of an unexpected incident.

Mr Fletcher noted that clients are currently concerned with the network and data security of law firms and want to ensure that there are internal system efficiencies, client-facing services such as extranets and litigation support.

Having such technology in place can differentiate law companies from their competition.

Indeed, if a system went down and DR procedures were not as robust as they should be, clients could move their business elsewhere through concerns about data security and the ability of a company to have operations back in full force as soon as possible.ADNFCR-1851-ID-19506832-ADNFCR
