IT automation can help businesses improve
disaster recovery protocols through faster and more efficient methods of data restoration, it has been claimed.
Ihotdesk has reported that improvements in online backup and virtual servers has meant that more efficient offsite replication of data is now possible leading to quicker recovery times in the event of a disaster.
"The core promise of IT automation is speed and cost savings," commented Tim Dickinson, regional director of Kaseya Australia and New Zealand.
He noted that backup file scan be converted into VMware, ESX or Virtual PC files in order to facilitate a smoother and more efficient transition.
Meanwhile, J Peter Bruzzese recently wrote in his blog for Infoworld that some data backup services provide a more cost-effective method of disaster recovery than others.
He noted that some providers offer the ability to remotely destroy stolen information should a data breach occur, which may be useful for companies whose employees travel frequently and store large quantities of data on their laptops.
