The constant update of data backups can help prevent data loss and increases
disaster recovery readiness for firms, it has been claimed.
Lincoln Spector wrote in a blog for PC World that hard disk drives can develop bad sectors where any information stored to these corrupt areas of a disk are prone to data loss.
Therefore, he advised companies to regularly maintain their data backup systems to have up-to-date copies of all records on hand should any files be accidentally lost or become corrupt.
Furthermore, Mr Spector said that in the event that a drive fails, if a company has invested in creating backups then all that will be lost is the hardware, which can be easily replaced.
Meanwhile, Dave Thompson recently reiterated these views in his blog for Stuff.co.nz.
He stated that it is almost inevitable that computer equipment will fail at some point during its lifespan, therefore it is essential that individuals take the time to back up their data on a regular basis in order to safeguard against costly incidences of data loss when a laptop or PC breaks.
