Companies which consolidate server operations are better able to handle data recovery and flow, it has been claimed.

Express Computer has reported that those firms which use fewer servers and transfer data to be backed up more often have greater efficiencies than those using a number of disparate systems.

The website claimed that server consolidation could reduce implementation times by up to 70 per cent and noted also that significant cost reductions can be made through smaller rental areas being required at data handling centres.

Meanwhile, John Dunsmure, managing director of the British Chambers of Commerce, recently commented that UK businesses should embrace technological advances in order to better prepare themselves for the challenges which lie ahead.

He noted that in the current economic climate, firms are going to have to work harder than ever in order to prosper and implementing 21st century could be one way of staying ahead of the curve.
