Testing of
disaster recovery (DR) plans is essential for businesses which want to be prepared for a crisis, it has been claimed.
Businesses could fall foul of their DR plan failing if any kinks in the recovery process have not been ironed out before it is required for real, according to Tech World.
In the event of an emergency, the website stated that companies which have well-practiced and have efficient DR protocols in place are in a much better position to recover quickly than those which have never done so.
Jim Spooner, UK strategy services manager at Glasshouse Technologies, said: "If you have invested £2 million in your DR environment, it makes no sense not to spend £50,000 testing your plan."
In related news, bMighty.com recently reported that for a significant number of companies DR plans are not adequately thought out or practiced, so that in the event of a crisis they could be of little use.
