DR planning 'important for 2009'

Disaster recovery (DR) plans will have an increasingly important role as next year unfolds, it has been argued.

8el News has reported that research carried by YouGov has shown that only 30 per cent of employees feel their business has adequate DR plans in place to weather a significant disruption in the next six months.

It also noted that only 19 per cent of firms plan to increase their DR spending next year.

"The bottom line is that many businesses will remain unnecessarily exposed until proper understanding and alignment is reached and business stakeholders become accountable," the IT website computing.co.uk commented.

Meanwhile, multichannel.com recently reported that the key to adequate DR planning is painstaking attention to detail and showing sufficient forethought as to potential pitfalls in the future.

The website claimed that the most important issue to be dealt with in the event of a disaster is the reinstatement of IT and communications systems as this will help in the coordination of DR efforts.
