DR plan 'needs cyclic evaluation'

Organisations looking to address their disaster recovery (DR) needs should establish the financial value of business processes, it has been noted.

Indeed, writing on Computing, Forrester Research's Rudiger Krojnewski says that a business continuity plan needs to be partly based on the cyclic evaluation of such processes, while the results of this analysis can be combined with risk assessments.

Such examinations can then work out the effort, money and time that needs to be devoted to DR initiatives, he claims, news which may be important to IT staff of enterprises who are currently addressing technological strategies.

Furthermore, DR plans need to be rehearsed, Mr Krojnewski states, adding that such practices are "sometimes difficult operational procedures, paired with processes that are exceptional. This scenario is highly prone to error. To minimise the risk of failure, the plan needs to be rehearsed at regular intervals".

In related news, the American Chronicle previously reported that a virus attack is the most serious threat to an organisation as it can leave systems unstable, a fact which may bolster the need for effective DR.ADNFCR-1851-ID-18901070-ADNFCR
