DR advice issued by research company

Research company Forrester Research has issued a number of statements regarding proper disaster recovery (DR) protocols.

Rudiger Krojnewski, an employee at the firm, commented that one manager should be employed by a business to oversee DR efforts as this will help to better coordinate efforts.

Furthermore, he said that the ever-changing nature of business means that DR plans need to be constantly updated to keep them relevant.

He told 8el News: "Every change in your business activity, as well as changes in supporting environments, can cause new risks or change existing risks.

"Enterprise risk management should always be the umbrella under which IT risk management happens."

However, the American Chronicle recently reported that DR should not be undertaken by a company on its own as this could lead to further data loss.

Author of the article Andrew Watson noted that specialised DR firms can be employed to help a business get back on its feet as quickly as possible and can help facilitate the recovery of information without the risk of further problems.
