Data recovery uptake grows tenfold

Data recovery requests have risen tenfold in the last 12 months, it has been revealed.Businesses have been quick to take up virtualisation over the last few years, with many opting to set up virtual desktop infrastructure.
Therefore, the amount of business critical data which is being handled by these systems has grown exponentially and as a result more firms are now turning to online backup providers, with Kroll Ontrack the first to offer data recovery services with VMware systems.
Robert Bloomquist, principal data recovery engineer at Kroll Ontrack, commented: "Over the next twelve months we will see virtual environments adopted by an increasing number of departments."
He added that it is now essential for firms to implement "water-tight disaster recovery plans" before we enter this new and exciting technological era.
Meanwhile, the company recently announced the launch of its newest product Ontrack PowerControls 5.1.
The system allows IT and Microsoft Office SharePoint administrators the ability to easily search for and restore items on a SharePoint server.
