Data protection 'is needed off-site'

Information stored on systems off-site is still subject to the need for data protection to be exerted, it has been asserted.

Tim Dickinson writes for PC World of the importance to adopt data protection for laptop users who are working from home.

Without doing so, he warns that companies could find that "the flexible-working nirvana is losing its shine".

But Mr Dickinson continues that remote working is emerging as a major business risk.

"Organisations struggle to impose adequate data storage, backup and security policies for remote workers," he observes.

He points out that the issue is a growing concern due to the accelerating amount of valuable information being maintained on home computers and laptops by flexible workers.

Previously, Christine Harrell wrote for Article Explosion that a written remote backup plan is an important part of preparing for the recovery of data stored off-site.

She suggested that such documentation should also include the procedure for restoring such information.ADNFCR-1851-ID-18740169-ADNFCR
