Companies could boost
data availability and access to records and information for their employees by embracing cloud-based
data management solutions, one IT expert has argued.
Firms could embrace mobile working by taking up cloud networks, according to David Pratt, chief operations officer of ThinkGrid.
"It really opens up the collaboration side of things and enables you [to] access and share your data and information without having to be tied to applications or your PC," he commented.
Mr Pratt added that the present financial difficulties being felt by many businesses could in fact speed up the uptake of cloud-based data management solutions, as it offers a cost effective means of handling large quantities of data and can also help to streamline
data storage.Research carried out by international IT consultancy IDC recently showed that industry-wide uptake of cloud solutions is set to accelerate throughout the remainder of this year.
The firm noted that the cloud services market is set to outperform other IT infrastructures considerably in 2009.
