Cost of storage 'never cheaper'

The cost of data storage has never been cheaper, according to one industry commentator.

Cliff Miyake wrote in an article for the Honolulu Star Bulletin that companies should invest in replacing aging hardware in order to take advantage of backup and recovery deals which are currently out there.

He noted that by investing "a few hundred dollars", companies can improve their data efficiencies immensely and put themselves in a position to transfer and manage information at a much faster rate.

Furthermore, Mr Miyake stated that the newest generation of routers and wireless systems mean home offices can also be upgraded to see significant benefits of improved transfer rates.

Meanwhile, PC World recently reported that an unidentified industry expert has claimed that continued DR planning should be an integral part of any company's business model.

They argued that in the event of a crisis, forethought and prior spending on disaster recovery programmes could be the things that keep a company alive.
