Cloud computing 'to grow in 2010'

Category: Data compliance

4 January, 2010

Data archiving solutions such as cloud computing are set to become increasingly popular over the course of 2010, it has been claimed.

Rob Lovell, chief executive officer at ThinkGrid, said there has been a growing data migration trend towards cloud computing services, as the technology removes the burden of IT systems management for many smaller firms.

He commented: "Most businesses are running pretty lean at the moment, with responsibility for IT often falling to the person in the office who has shown they understand it the best."

According to recent report by Analysys Mason, IT services and infrastructure are migrating from the customers' computer to the cloud.

It noted cloud computing has been attractive during the recession due to its cost effectiveness, but concentrating on the infrastructure of cloud computing will not deliver long-term value to operators, so they are looking into providing a broader range of cloud computing services.
