A woman, whose business was located in the World Trade Centre when the terrorist attack happened, has released a
disaster recovery book.
The book, launched the day before the seventh anniversary of the incident, is written by Donna Childs who claims her
disaster recovery plans meant she could resume business fairly quickly, reports the business online resource Knowledge@W P Carey.
"My business had its data backed up online and off-site, which allowed me to work remotely following 9/11," she writes in the book called Prepare for the Worst, Plan for the Best.
"I soon realised that my level of preparedness was unusual," the resource reports her as saying.
Disaster recovery plans will "yield a positive return on your investment even if disaster never strikes", she says.
The book may be of interest to businesses in the UK because it includes advice such as IT strategies, precautionary measures and contingency plans, the online bi-weekly says.
And although aimed at small businesses, a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that up to 70 per cent of larger companies would suffer significant disruption if they had no IT system for one day, technology website vnunet.com reported.
