Benefits of technology 'must be promoted'

Category: Data Destruction

5 January, 2010

The significance of data recovery technology must be promoted to those who are unaware of it in order for them to benefit, it has been claimed.

A spokesperson for BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, said the majority of UK businesses are not presently using cutting edge technology and could therefore improve their data management efficiency by better educating themselves about what options are currently available.

She commented: "The challenge for the IT community is to take that on as a challenge - how do we get people savvier about the value and benefits?"

According to a recent poll by market research company Zogby International, 32 per cent of Americans say they believed there would be greater technological advances by 2010.

However, those aged 18 to 30 are much less likely (13 per cent) than older generations to say the technological advancements up until now have exceeded their expectations, while those aged 70 and older (34 per cent) are the group most likely to say we are more advanced than they thought we would be by 2010.
