Firefox users have been warned by Mozilla to not install an experimental add-on, it has been reported, while one user has claimed that proxy settings were lost after he installed the service.

In news which may be important to the disaster recovery plans of firms, Vnunet states that because Firefox is an open source facility, many of the applications are created by third-party developers.

As such, people are urged about the problems associated with the China Channel add-on, which allows users to experience the web as if they were under the country's browsing restrictions.

Unless the users are technically-minded, they should stay away from such experimental applications, a spokesperson for Mozilla warned.

Such users may also be aware of the potentially detrimental effects installing unknown add-ons may bring, such as system crashes and substantial data loss.
